The Gunman Games

The Gunman Games is another book that I have been writing recently. It is a dystopian, futuristic, thriller that follows sixteen year old Noah is a must for all squid game fans. Noah wakes up in a game that can only be escaped by winning all five of the deadly Gunman Games. Noah makes friends but will have to fight and kill to see his family again.

Inspired heavily by hunger games and squid game.

Below is a sneak peak but only read if you feel comfortable and over about fifteen. Thank you.

Waking up

I lay on cold metal. This is extremely unusual for me because I am familiar with my warm mattress and pillow. A low hum is constantly ringing wherever I am. Maybe this is heaven, perhaps I have fallen asleep by accident on a metal table.

My eyes ache with tiredness and my head hurts like hell. After a few minutes of fully waking up, I open my eyes to see nothing. Blackness.

After at least an hour of thinking, the hum becomes louder and rows of lights flicker on. My surroundings are very strange and I realise I am on a tall metre wide, pillar-like, tower.  Looking around, I see about five hundred other people waking up on their own individual towers. I am about to peak over the edge when a horror fills my eyes. Each pillar is about two metres from another and a symbol glows on the surface of the tower. I am a rose flower.

There were no visible walls and if they were then they were completely black and the sun was definitely not present.   falls off the edge. Another laser beams down from the ceiling and the tower that he was on crumbles. A person on the tower next to the crumbled one, falls back as blood splatters on her face. A laser pierces the girl and as her tower goes down she tries to grip on the next tower. Grabbing the boy on the tower she is trying to grip, he falls with her towards the darkness that is below. The children around the boy gasp and I learn a big rule: never look over the edge.

I begin to hyperventilate, rolling on all fours. I feel sick, like I’m about to vomit. My skin becomes more pale than usual as I look at the boy with no head about twenty metres away.

I start to think why I’m there but I can only remember falling asleep. Then I remember going out at night and walking along someone dragging me away. To this awful place. Then I wonder what this actually is. Solitary? Prison? Or worse, hell? After a long time on my hands and knees, I feel somewhat better. Nobody else dares try to look over the edge. People all over the room begin to scream for help.

I hear a voice from behind me and I turn to see a little boy on an adjacent tower,

“D’you know what’s happening?” He asked in a squeaky voice. He has short brown hair and large blue eyes. He seems trustworthy but somewhat vulnerable and frightened.

“Nah kid, I just woke up here. What’s your name?” I say honestly.

“My name’s Alan, what’s yours?” He replied kindly. Alan’s symbol is a male lion’s head.

“Mine’s Noah,” I say without thinking. I realise that I had not thought about my name at all until this point.

“Well Noah, can we be friends?” Alan said, he is peering over at a corner of the room. I turned my head and saw a boy sitting on his tower, a long scar was lined along his face, he looked really tired. He looked like he was thinking quite hard.“Excuse me, are you okay?” Alan asks the boy, he turned his head around and saw the two boys.

“Y-yeah I guess…” He says, still looking at the remains of the towers of the eliminated players.

“What’s your name?” Alan says calmly, peering over at me and making a gesture to obviously tell me to smile.

“My name? Katsuke, I hate my name, wish I could change it…” He muttered under his breath.

“I think it’s quite cool,” Said Alan, trying to reach over to him but then remembering the decapitated boy.

“No point in lying, everyone bullies me for it…They say it sounds like a girl’s one…” He said, going back to thinking.

“What’s his deal?” I ask Alan, “He looks really depressed…”

“Dunno…” Alan says in a ‘I have a bad feeling about this’ tone.

All of a sudden, a sheet of glass comes from the ceiling, suspended with wires. A man in a black suit and a gold skull mask covering his face is upon it and holding alarge gold wrapped revolver. He had a large black cane with a gold ball on top with foreign words etched cleanly into it.

Around the walls, other guards are pointing guns at players – ready to shoot if necessary. They have the same odd uniform on but their guns are different and their masks are silver. The guns that they hold are longer and they have a shotgun-like look to them. The bow is surrounded by three points that obviously double as a taser.

The sudden appearance makes a player close to me stumble back, his foot falls off of the side of his tower, he quickly pulls it back. The man stares at the contestant behind . It is silent until he raises his gun and pulls the trigger. A loud bang erupts through the air and blood spills onto the tower of the eliminated child.

Gasps fill the room as we all watch his tower crumble to the ground and fall along with the player. I can barely look at it. Players seemed to be dropping like flies since the game began. First the headless boy then the girl, the

A young boy with ginger hair sticks his head over the edge and a laser blasts it off of his long neck in an instant. His body collapses to the floor and eventually, boy followed with her, and now him. All the players didn’t seem to understand to just stay on their tower.

“I am the Head Gunman, you are now a player in my game. The Gunman Games.” The gold-masked figure on the glass says. “You will play five of my games over the next week or so. You are no longer safe. We will have the first game in ten and a half hours, be prepared to get your hands dirty!”

“Why are we here?” A random player screeches at the head gunman. In a matter of seconds the player who asked the question takes a bullet to the head from the golden revolver.
